The final stage of the season begins with Qualifier 1 in Dharamsala on Tuesday (May 27). The Eliminator will be played in Mullanpur on Wednesday (May 27), followed by the Qualifier 2 on May 29. The final is scheduled for May 31 in Ahmedabad.

But before the final round of madness begins, let’s take a look at which team has played the most playoff matches in IPL history.
Five-time champions Chennai Super Kings remain the most successful side in IPL playoff history, with 17 wins in 26 matches, translating to a 65.39 percent success rate. Close behind are the Mumbai Indians, who have 14 victories from 22 appearances. However, in a rare dip, neither CSK nor MI managed to qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs.

The IPL 2026 playoffs get underway on May 26 in Dharamsala, where table-toppers Royal Challengers Bengaluru take on second-placed Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1. A direct berth in the final awaits the winner, while the losing side will get another opportunity to stay in the title race.
The action then shifts to Mullanpur on May 27 for the Eliminator, featuring third-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad and fourth-placed Rajasthan Royals. It’s a do-or-die clash, with the loser exiting the tournament and the winner moving ahead to the next stage.
Qualifier 2 will be played on May 29 in Mullanpur, where the winner of the Eliminator will face the team that loses Qualifier 1. The victor of this contest will secure the second spot in the final.
The summit clash is scheduled for May 31 in Ahmedabad, where the two finalists will battle it out for the IPL 2026 crown.
