Pre-match:
India and New Zealand switch their focus to the 50-over format after an entertaining T20I series.
The hosts lost the T20I series 3-2 but won the last two games and are in winning momentum as they begin their ODI campaign at Eden Park in Auckland.
The surface is expected to offer more assistance to bowlers than the recent T20I pitches, with good bounce potentially bringing the seamers into play.
The series also provides an important opportunity for both teams to fine-tune their combinations ahead of next year's ODI World Cup. Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be key to India's plans, while Shreyas Iyer is set to return to the middle order.
New Zealand, meanwhile, will be without Devon Conway for the opener following a concussion, alongside the unavailable Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra. Daryl Mitchell will be their key batter in the lineup.
