Gill believes the SSC pitch looks harder than the surface in Galle, where India secured a 165-run victory in the series opener. However, he expects the wicket to offer good batting conditions.
“Batting first, yes. It looks like a much harder wicket than Galle. The pitch got slower and started to turn, but this will be a good wicket to bat on,” Gill said.
There is also a notable change to India’s XI, with Saransh Jain set to make his Test debut. The off-spinning allrounder received his India cap from Ravindra Jadeja during the team huddle.
